Applications for the new scheme will be available from 16 April while outstanding assessments for the previous scheme are processed. For more information, read our FAQs.
The new scheme has been developed with feedback from our public consultation and aims to make the best use of a limited supply of social housing to help those most in housing need. For more information on the consultation, please see our dedicated Housing consultations page.
The Housing Allocation Scheme sets out how you can join the Housing Register, how we prioritise applicants for social housing, and how we let social housing, which could be either council and housing association homes.
