Area 7 – CMK and surrounding routes 

Route 42 – H9 Groveway

Improves walking and cycling connectivity between the east and west – providing better access to parks and open space, schools, district centres, retail, business parks and the Open University 

Improves and upgrades crossing points giving priority to people on the Redway 

Option A:

5m segregated Redway, 2m footway and 3m cycleway providing separate space for people walking and cycling from Simpson Roundabout to east of the V10 Brickhill Street connecting to existing Redways on both sides of the road 

Redway runs alongside H9 Groveway providing the most direct route. Change section of dual lane carriageway on H9 Groveway to single to widen out kerb line on south side to provide space for a 5m Redway 

New Redway Bridge over the V10 Brickhill Street

Option B:

Utilises existing quiet roads (Old Groveway, Bowlers Close, Hamner Road 20 mph) and Redways and provides new 3m or 5m Redways where there are missing links  

New at grade controlled crossing point set back at a safe distance from roundabout on the V10 Brickhill Street

Route 46 and 142 – Hospital Redway

Improves the existing Redway to make it safer, more attractive, and pleasant for everyone that uses it 

5m segregated Redway, 2m footway and 3m cycleway providing separate space for people walking and cycling  

Improved lighting, vegetation removal and resting points 

Option A:

Route 146 – Fishermead to Central Milton Keynes

Links the H6 Childs Way to H7 Chaffron Way Redways, providing a route through Fishermead and Central Milton Keynes 

Improves and upgrades crossing points. 

Option A:

5m segregated Redway providing separate space, straight through Fishermead on Mullion Place and Pencarrow Place. 4.8m carriageway, 5m wide parking provision, 1m planting either side of 5m wide segregated Redway 

5m Redway continues alongside Secklow Gate. 10.5m carriageway on Secklow Gate to be redistributed to make space for Redway

Option B:

3m shared use Redway through Fishermead along Kellan Drive, Fishermead Boulevard and Pentewan Gate, connecting to existing Redway on the H6 Childs Way passed Local Centre  

In Central Milton Keynes, a 3m Redway runs through the parking area, adjacent to Secklow Gate, using the existing underpass to cross Avebury Boulevard 

Redway stops either side of the shopping centre with 'Destination’ cycle parking facilities at the end of the Redway, entrance to Shopping Centre, with dropped kerbs to rejoin the road.
