At the referendum on the neighbourhood plan that took place on 2 May 2019, 124 of the votes cast were in favour of the neighbourhood plan being made part of the development plan for Milton Keynes and 9 were against. The turnout was 68.56%. The declaration of results can be seen here. (PDF, 79KB).
Following the successful referendum, the Ravenstone neighbourhood plan is now in force as part of the statutory development plan for the area covered by Ravenstone parish and will be used when making decisions on planning applications in this area.”
Referendum Information
2 May 2019
A Referendum relating to the adoption of the Ravenstone neighbourhood plan will be held on Thursday 2 May 2019.
The question which will be asked in the referendum is:
'Do you want Milton Keynes Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Ravenstone to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?'
The Referendum area is identified on the map within the information statement which is available below. This is the same as the designated neighbourhood plan area for Ravenstone.
Residential Referendum
A person is entitled to vote in the residential referendum if, on 2 May 2019:
- the person is entitled to vote in a local government election in the referendum area
- the persons qualifying address for the election is in the referendum area. A person’s qualifying address is, in relation to a person registered in the register of electors, the address in respect of which he or she is entitled to be so registered.
Referendum expenses
The referendum expenses limit that will apply to this Referendum is £2373.33.
The referendum will be conducted in accordance with procedures which are similar to those used at local government elections.

Decision statement following receipt of examiner's report
Following the receipt of the examiner's report on the Ravenstone neighbourhood plan, Milton Keynes council has considered and accepted all of the examiner's recommendations, apart from one minor non-material change to part of recommendation 13. The Neighbourhood Plan will now proceed to a referendum on 2 May 2019.

December 2018
Following the publicity period on the submitted Ravenstone neighbourhood plan, Milton Keynes council has appointed Rosemary Kidd to conduct an examination of the Neighbourhood Plan. The examiner’s main role is to ensure that the neighbourhood plan meets the basic conditions and is able to proceed to referendum.

The Parish Council submitted the Ravenstone Neighbourhood Plan to Milton Keynes Council on 20 July 2018.
In accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 Milton Keynes Council is now publicising the submitted Neighbourhood Plan and its accompanying documents for 8 weeks from Monday 6 August 2018 to 5pm on Monday 1 October 2018.

Ravenstone Parish council carried out a 6 week consultation on the pre-submission draft neighbourhood plan over April and June 2018.
Neighbourhood Area Designation - 12 October 2017
Following an Officer Decision on the 12 October 2017 the area put forward by Ravenstone Parish Council in their Neighbourhood Plan Area Application has now been approved as a Neighbourhood Plan Area.
In May 2017 Ravenstone Parish Council applied to Milton Keynes Council, in accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, to designate a Neighbourhood Plan Area for the whole of the parish area of Ravenstone.
The application is accompanied by a map identifying the area to which the application relates, a statement explaining why Ravenstone Parish Council intends to prepare a Neighbourhood Plan, and how the organisation and area meet the conditions of Section 61G(2) and 61F(5) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

In accordance with Regulation 6 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, as amended by Regulation 2 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) (Amendment) Regulations 2015 Milton Keynes Council will consult residents and other interested stakeholders on this application.
