Sheltered Housing Consultation

Sheltered Housing Service - Part Two consultation outcome.

What's it all about?

Milton Keynes City Council owns over 10,600 rented properties, including 800 homes for older people, known as Sheltered Housing. We are updating our Sheltered Housing services to meet customer needs, comply with new regulatory standards like Consumer Standards, and ensure value for money.

From 14 October 2024 to 5 January 2025 we consulted with residents on our sheltered housing service. Here you can find two reports with our findings.

Part One: Initial Feedback Report

Thank you if you were one of the hundreds of sheltered housing tenants who recently joined us at one of our 17 face-to-face sessions or if you responded to our online survey about the future of the sheltered housing service.  The consultation process for our sheltered housing service highlighted the importance of security, support, community, affordability, and maintenance. Here is the full report

Part Two: Options and Costs (9 December – 5 January )

Thank you to the hundreds of MKCC sheltered housing tenants who participated to select your preferred option. Most of you chose Option 3, a shared service. You can read the full report here.

What's next?

With most people voting for a shared service, we are now considering how this will be delivered in the future. We will keep sheltered housing tenants updated with any progress.

Charges for the Sheltered Housing Officer Service will remain at the 2024/25 rates in the meantime.
