Ruskin Mill Trust - learning and training
We provide students with holistic learning by role modelling positive relationships in the fields of arts, crafts, commerce, agriculture, nutrition, living skills and the environment.
Our Values
We value inclusive learning and living activities that integrate practical activity, thinking and emotions.
We value mutual respect and we strive to understand all people’s differences and uniqueness.
We value the capacity for re-imagination present in all people, towards positive change and development.
We value openness, goodwill, tolerance and treating individuals with dignity and respect.
Our Purpose
We provide students with holistic learning by role modelling positive relationships in the fields of arts, crafts, commerce, agriculture, nutrition, living skills and the environment.
By immersing students within the productive aspects of our curriculum, students learn to care for their own well-being and development and overcome their barriers to learning. This is so students learn to recognise their capabilities and positively contribute to society, which is continuously celebrated through cultural events and arts festivals for staff, students and the wider community.
Our unique method, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education arises from our vision and values.
The Trust offers lifelong CQC and CSSIW approved residential and day provision of:
- Children and young people aged 7-19 years
- Further education at specialist colleges, 16-25 years
- Continued residential and training support for adults
Applications are invited year-round for both 52 week, and term-time only placements.
Each centre provides an exciting, varied and personalised range of course subjects within an integrated day and residential curriculum delivered by skilled and trained staff.
The residential provision allows students to seamlessly progress from a highly supported domestic living environment towards greater levels of independence and social integration.
Our aim for the students is to generate a sense of identity in which they can feel successful by engaging them through a journey of focus, grasp, step.
“Focus on becoming attentive,
Grasp new ideas,
Step out into their community”
