Early Support

Early Support

Our aim is to increase the chances that disabled children, young people and their families are able to live 'ordinary' lives.

Early Support is a way of working that puts parents/carers at the centre of all planning. Any early year’s practitioner working with you can become a keyworker for your family; a health professional may support you in using an Early Support family file or a specialist teacher may use a Developmental Journal with you.  An important part of Early Support is coordinating services. Your Early Support key worker can call meetings to ensure everyone works together as a team around your child and family.

The Council for Disabled Children at the National Children's Bureau is responsible for ensuring that Early Support is extended from birth to adulthood and embedded in local areas across England.
