We are a growing community with more than 300,000 supporters nationwide – including people with diabetes, their friends and families. Working with an army of 6,500 volunteers and 340 voluntary groups we raise awareness and funds. We have a professional membership of more than 10,000 healthcare professionals from varied clinical settings. In 2012 over 3,000 delegates attended our Diabetes Professional Conference, the UK’s leading professional forum for exchanging ideas and sharing information.

We are experts in the field of diabetes care, treatment and research. We use our expertise to compile the evidence base for policies that help all of those affected by diabetes and inform our campaigns for better services.

We influence governments, opinion formers, healthcare professionals and health services to ensure that people with diabetes get the standards of care they deserve and that the wider public is aware of how to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
