The provision is a 46-place day nursery combined with an outdoor learning centre, building on our popular Forest School provision and reputation for Forest School training.  This will include an outdoor holiday playscheme which will operate in the school holidays started from April this year.

One of Acorn’s key priorities is outdoor play and learning, and this will be clearly evident within Cold Harbour, where the outdoor environment and play area will be available to the children all day, every day.  We have very exciting plans for the outdoor area at the rear of the nursery, and the nursery will be sharing the site with the Outdoor Learning Centre, which will be hosting outdoor playschemes, bushcraft and forest school sessions, all year round. 

Our menus have been carefully planned to be both seasonal and nutritionally balanced and tasty ensuring we have clean plates every time! Our cook, prepares all the nursery meals and snacks on-site each day, providing nutritionally balanced meals which are both healthy and appetizing. We only use fresh, local, ethically sourced produce to create our delicious meals. We can accommodate most dietary requirements and have won several awards for our food.

A home visit from Sammy the manager and your child’s keyperson are offered to all new families as they believe children benefit from meeting their keyperson in a familiar environment, before attending the nursery for settling-in sessions. Children are encouraged to form close bonds using our key person system to ensure learning and development are encouraged on an individual basis.
