For information on how to search for, obtain copies of and gain access to building control records, please see our handy guidance notes and charges.

You can access the building control applications database to search for building regulation applications in Milton Keynes that have started and/or completed since 1997, and information on other types of work for example work completed by Competent Persons. You can also find information on planning applications.

Please note: This search may not reveal all records that might be shown on a Local Authority Search (CON29). Personal Search agents are advised to refer to our guidance note on access to records above.

Please note: The Public Access database only reveals limited information where work has started and/or completed at a property. It will not show applications where work has not yet commenced and it may show expired applications that would not show on a CON29 search.

Definition of References

Description of works - what work is covered under the application

Site address - the address the work relates to

Application reference number - on a CON29 search this is revealed under Q1.1(f) (YY/*****/SUFFIX).

Valid date - date the application is received by the council

Decision date: date the application has been approved (this is approval of plans under a Full Plans application, acceptance of a Building Notice, acceptance of an Initial Notice (IN) or issue of a Regularisation Certificate.

Status

Building work started - the work has not yet been signed off by Building Control

Building Work Complete - the work has been signed off and a Compliance Certificate has been issued (either by us or by another building control body or Competent Person scheme)

Name of insurer - this is only shown for Initial Notice applications

Scheme name of Competent Person -  which Competent Person scheme was responsible for self-certifying the work. This can often be blank

Understanding The Reference Numbers

Building control reference numbers are unique to each application but can relate to applications that are being dealt with by other bodies. The suffix denotes the type of application:

DEX - Full Plans domestic extension

DGA - Full plans loft conversion

OTH - Full plans commercial other work

OTHBN - Other work Building Notice

IN - Initial notice (work being undertaken by an approved inspector)
