Milton Keynes City Council is hosting a first of its kind event to raise awareness of educational psychology as a career path.

The free to attend event is happening at the City Council’s Civic office on Thursday 23 January between 3:30pm and 5:30pm. Visitors will have the chance to meet some of the City Council’s specialist team, ask questions and learn more about the roles on offer.

The Educational Psychology Service works with children and young people aged 0 to 25 years alongside their families, educational settings and other professionals. After assessing an individual, the team provides ideas and strategies to help them progress at school and at home.

They also deliver training and create tools and resources for children who have specific challenges such as emotionally based school avoidance.

"Our Educational Psychology team is a critical part of Children’s Services in Milton Keynes. If you are passionate about psychology and want to use your knowledge to improve the lives of local children and young people, this event is for you. We have a number of roles available, and our assistant post is the ideal stepping stone to becoming a trainee and gaining the full qualification.”
- Councillor Joe Hearnshaw, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People
