Milton Keynes City Council is set to approve a blueprint for the future of The Brunel Centre and former Sainsbury’s in Bletchley.
Following a consultation last year, the city council has reviewed feedback from the community on its Development Brief for the Brunel Centre. The document will inform the future use and design for the site to ensure it meets the city council’s and local people’s ambitions to revitalise Bletchley Town Centre.
The Brunel Centre Development Brief sets out a vision to deliver a modern mixed-use scheme, including new homes and shops in heart of Bletchley’s town centre.
The city council’s independent property arm, Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP), purchased the site last year to form part of the Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Deal project. The Town Deal project will see major improvements to Bletchley and Fenny Stratford, partly paid for by £23m in government funding the city council had previously secured.
The city council will make a decision to formally approve the development brief on 27 Feb. Following this, MKDP will market the site having regard to the vision set by Bletchley residents and businesses.
We’re making good progress in revitalising these town centres and this is an important step in the project. The Brunel Centre is a key site and it’s crucial that any future proposals reflect what local people and businesses have told us they would like to see there.
