Milton Keynes City Council is set to ask residents to help decide the future of Bletchley’s Brunel Shopping Centre and the former Sainsbury’s site as plans to revitalise the town centre take shape.
The city council has prepared a draft ‘development brief’ for the Brunel Centre, which will inform the future use and design for the site. It will be published for public feedback next month before being finalised.
MK City Council’s independent property arm, Milton Keynes Development Partnership (MKDP), purchased the site earlier this year to form part of the Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Deal project. This project will see major improvements to Bletchley and Fenny Stratford, partly paid for by £23m in government funding the city council had previously secured.
Setting a development brief enables any proposals for the site to be considered against the local vision set out by the city council, which is itself informed by Bletchley residents and businesses.
MK City Council will be taking a formal decision to publish the development brief for consultation on 26 September 2023.
