Milton Keynes City Council has launched a new scheme to recognise and promote good practice in youth clubs across the city.
The City Council’s Safe Practice Mark is awarded to organisations who can demonstrate that appropriate safety and safeguarding measures are in place. It will help parents and carers to make informed decisions about local clubs for children and young people.
Organisations wishing to gain the Safe Practice Mark need to fill out an online application which is reviewed by the council’s specialist panel. Following a successful application, there is access to free training for organisations of any size and the opportunity to apply for restricted funding. Clubs will need to re-apply annually to continue using the mark.
“Across MK, there is a fantastic network of local clubs for young people. We want to recognise good practice and highlight those organisations who take safeguarding most seriously. We can also help with training and access to funding that may allow these groups to expand. Most importantly, the safe practice mark provides extra assurance to parents and carers who are looking at what is available for their children.”
MK City Council also leads a Youth Provision Forum, where organisations from across the city meet to share good practice and work together to ensure high quality services for young people.
