Milton Keynes City Council is recognising and celebrating the achievements of children in care during its Corporate Parenting Week.
Currently, the City Council is a legal ‘corporate parent’ to more than 360 children and young people whose challenging home circumstances mean they need extra support.
Throughout this week, Milton Keynes City Council is running activities and events for those young people, including a trip to Gulliver’s Land, which is the venue for this year’s True Triumph event, which celebrates local children in care and their carers.
Some of MK’s children in care are preparing workshops as part of a Department for Education funded project where they’ll talk about topics such as their experience of care and how to build trust.
The City Council is asking local organisations to come forward if they can help to support young people in care. This may take the form of apprenticeship schemes or guaranteed interviews for any care leavers. Please contact Richard Lee for more information or call him on 07881 353 675.
