New accessible bungalows, integrated car parking and a meditation garden for residents in Fenny Stratford are being funded by Milton Keynes City Council.

Two new council bungalows are being built by developers FSG with the latest energy efficiency measures including air source heat pumps and solar panels to keep bills down for tenants.

The City Council is also creating new accessible parking spaces for the entire street, as residents with disabilities currently have limited parking options. Step-free paving is also being introduced outside of homes.

The City Council and John Lewis are funding a new ‘meditation garden’ at Rowlands Close to become a community space for residents to enjoy with their neighbours.

Work started on the site in December and is expected to be completed by May 2023.

In other parts of the city, MK City Council is investing more than £120,000 to install dropped kerbs and remove street barriers, making it easier for people using mobility scooters and wheelchairs to get around, as part of its commitment to become a ‘disability and dementia friendly city’.

“It’s really positive to see progress being made on Rowlands Close which will have huge benefits for both new and existing residents. We’ve taken this opportunity to ensure these new homes have a positive impact for everyone on Rowlands Close with better access and parking for residents who need more flexible and accessible spaces. It's something that we want to replicate elsewhere in MK as part of our ambitions to become a ‘disability and dementia friendly city’.”
