At a ceremony outside Civic this morning, Milton Keynes Council raised the Armed Forces Day flag to mark the beginning of Armed Forces Week.
Mayor of MK, Cllr Amanda Marlow was joined by the Council’s Armed Forces Champion, Cllr Paul Trendall and Countess Howe, Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire to perform the flag-raising which was live streamed online via the Mayor’s Facebook page.
Celebrations to show appreciation for the work of the Armed Forces will take place across the country when all local authorities are invited to raise the Armed Forces Day flag on buildings and famous landmarks ahead of Armed Forces Day on Saturday 25 June.
MK Council signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2017 and is recognised with the Gold Award in the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme for its work to support members of the Armed Forces community back into the workplace through its guaranteed interview scheme and range of supportive HR policies for veterans and reservists.
