Licensing privacy notice

Licensing of Milton Keynes City Council may use the information you provide in your application (via any submission method) and any supporting documentation you send us, to process your application for a licence/registration/permit. The Information you provide will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act and the general Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Personal data and documentation supplied for applying for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), will not be recorded or disclosed to any third party unless part of legal process.

What Information do we hold?

The data we will hold is the information that you supply us to comply with the application process. The data you supply us is required by relevant legislation to enable us to process your application and grant the licence, registration or permit. In the case of some specific permits or registrations then local rules may apply to the application process. We will be requiring specific information that must be supplied so it can be examined by an officer before the permit or registration can be granted or not depending upon the circumstances.

Who will the data be shared with?

We may pass and/or check the information you have provided, with other Council departments, agencies or organisations such as government departments and local authorities and competent authorities dependent upon the licence registration or permit required. These may include but not exclusively;

  • Law enforcement agencies, such as Thames Valley Police
  • Bucks Fire and Rescue Services
  • Courts Tribunal
  • Legal representatives & Councillors
  • Education establishments such as schools
  • Regulatory bodies, investigators and ombudsman.
  • Health Professionals
  • Central government departments

How long we keep hold of information for

We will retain your information securely for 6 years, plus the current year in which data processing is completed. You can ask us for what information we hold on you at any time.

We only keep information for as long as it is needed. This will be based on either a legal requirement (where a law says we have to keep information for a specific period of time) or as long as a licence registration or permit is live we will then delete after a period of time defined by our retention register. For Children’s Performances Licenses or work permits we will delete the information when the applicant is of an age that their licence or permit is no further required by current legislation.

What rights you have

Any request to access your rights can be submitted to the Data Protection Officer below. Whether we can agree to your request will depend on the specific circumstances and if we cannot then we will explain the reasons why.
