Parental consent for Under 16s at libraries
The Milton Keynes City Council libraries make every effort to prevent access to inappropriate material. Despite doing our best, we cannot have complete control over the information on the Internet. This is the same as with other sources like television and some sites will be unsuitable for children and young people.
- In order to access the IT facilities, children and young people under the age of 16 must be registered library members.
- A parent or legal guardian must be present for children under 16 to join the library and by joining a child to the library they agree to the child having access to IT facilities including the Internet.
- Children and young people under the age of 16 will have access to the computers in our libraries with their library card.
- Parents and guardians are responsible for monitoring material accessed on the Internet by their children.
If your child is not yet a member, find out more about joining the library - there is no age limit and it's free.
Staying Safe
Please remind your child to be wary of strangers online. They should never reveal personal information either by email, messaging or chat rooms.
Advice is available at:
Prolonged use of computers may lead to health problems such as eyestrain, hand and wrist injuries or fatigue.
