Who should apply for a licence?
Any business that wants to place tables, chairs or other temporary furniture onto the highway (footways/pavement/verge) will need to apply for a Table and Chairs (Highways) licence.
Any items on the highway must be approved in advance to make sure they are positioned safely and don't cause any obstructions to pedestrians including those using a wheelchair or mobility scooter, pushchairs or cyclists.
Please note: you will need to check if there is sufficient space outside your premises before applying. If you are using a nearby area for your table and chairs you will need to get written permission from the premises owner before doing so.
How much does a licence cost?
A Table and Chairs licence (highways) will cost
- £449 for Central Milton Keynes
- £224 for all other areas
You should also read our Terms and Conditions (PDF, 147KB) before you apply.
