Consultation

The City Council reviews its policy document on a three yearly basis.  The policy outlines how we will approach the licensing, authorisation, and permitting of premises and organisations for permissions needed under the Gambling Act 2005.

This covers the licensing of gambling premises (such as betting shops, casinos and amusement arcades) as well as small local lottery registrations and also gaming machines in other locations such as pubs and clubs. The system is detailed in national legislation, but local issues form part of the process.

You should respond in writing by email to licensing@milton-keynes.gov.uk or by post if needed, to Licensing, Milton Keynes City Council, Civic, 1 Saxon Gate East, Milton Keynes MK9 3EJ.

Responses need to focus on one or more of the three licensing objectives set out in the legislation. They are:

  • Preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or disorder or being used to support crime.
  • Ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way.
  • Protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling.

A final draft policy will be presented to the Licensing Committee of the Council on 12 February 2025.
