Milton Keynes Council is serving statutory notification on the following:
The Council of the Borough of Milton Keynes – Proposed Traffic Calming Scheme on Long Street Road, Hanslope
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Borough of Milton Keynes proposes under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 to construct traffic calming measures consisting of two speed cushions and to convert the existing speed hump to a new raised table hump along parts of Long Street Road in Hanslope.
The two new speed cushions will be positioned on both sides of the carriageway 17 metres south-east of its junction with the centreline of Mundays Meadow and will extend for a distance of 2 metres in a south-easterly direction.
The raised table hump will replace the existing speed hump and be positioned 18 metres north-west its junction with the centreline of Mundays Meadow and will extend for a distance of 8 metres in a north-westerly direction. The raised table will extend across the full width of the carriageway.
The speed cushions and raised table hump will be constructed of bituminous material or similar and will have a central lift of 100 millimetre for the raised table hump and 75 millimetres for the two speed cushions.
The proposed speed cushions and raised table hump will support the new proposed zebra crossing, due to be installed in April 2022, in connection with the section 278 agreement for the Hanslope Long Street Davidson Development.
The introduction of the speed cushions and raised table hump will help to reduce vehicular speeds when approaching the controlled zebra crossing, which will encourage and facilitate safe pedestrian and cyclist movements.
The Councils statutory reasons for introducing the above traffic calming measures are as follows: -
- To avoid danger to people or other traffic using the above roads, or any other road, or to prevent the likelihood of any such danger arising;
- To create a safer environment throughout the above roads and to encourage and facilitate pedestrian and cyclist movements.
Any comments to the above proposals can be made in writing and sent to the Council’s Traffic Regulation Order Team by email to TROteam@milton-keynes.gov.uk quoting reference NOT-039.
