The council has the duty to set admissions arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools. This means the majority of primary schools but none of the secondary schools in Milton Keynes. Other schools (voluntary aided, foundation, academy, free school) set their own arrangements. Although not responsible for determining all schools’ arrangements, the council is responsible for coordinating the annual scheme for applications to all primary and secondary schools, regardless of type.
