The introduction of the 20mph speed limit will help to reduce vehicular speeds on Stockwell Lane and Dankworth Way, which will encourage and facilitate safe pedestrian and cyclist movements.
As the Highway Authority for Stockwell Lane and Dankworth Way, Milton Keynes City Council is satisfied that the introduction of the above proposed speed restriction will encourage the convenient and safe movement of vehicular traffic.
The Council has a duty under section 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 when making TROs to consider the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic and other traffic on the Highway.
The current speed limit on Walton Drive is 30mph.
All signs and road markings will be in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
The Council will continue to monitor the way in which highway facilities are used and address any issues that come to its notice and following meaningful consultation with all stakeholders do what it considers necessary to facilitate the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Milton Keynes City Council is now carrying out statutory consultation on the proposed speed restriction. Copies of the proposed traffic Order, the notice of proposal and the Council's statement of reasons, are available for inspection on the links below.
Any person wishing to object to the making of the traffic regulation Order, together with the grounds upon which they are made, must be made in writing and sent to the Council’s Traffic Regulation Order Team by email to TROteam@milton-keynes.gov.uk quoting reference TRO-354.
The closing date for this consultation is 01 June 2023.
