Consultation
Recently we carried out an extensive survey on Newton Road, Bletchley to measure traffic levels, vehicle speeds and pedestrian figures.
The results showed that this road has a high volume of traffic and a large number of pedestrians, particularly around the primary school, St Thomas Aquinas where a school crossing patroller is in place.
To improve road safety in this area, we’ve put some proposals together to reduce the speed of traffic.
Open a plan showing proposed changes to Newton Road.
We’d like to hear your comments on these proposals.
Why traffic calming features?
Traffic calming features will help to reduce the speed of traffic as drivers slow down to go over them. This option will also help to provide a safer crossing point with a School Crossing Patroller for the pupils attending St Thomas Aquinas Primary School.
In addition, we also plan to introduce double yellow lines on St Mary’s Avenue to ensure that the junction and visibility is clear.
You can make comments on these proposals as part of this informal consultation to highway.consultations@milton-keynes.gov.uk or call 01908 253885.
Alternatively, you can also send your comments by post to: Traffic & Network Team, Highways, MK Council, 1 Saxon Gate East, Milton Keynes, MK9 3EJ
All comments must be received by MK Council by 5pm on Monday 13 June 2022. Any comments received after this date will not be included in this informal consultation.
After this date, we will review all the comments sent to us and either amend the proposals or proceed to the formal consultation stage.
