Wolverton and District Archaeological and Historical Society
The Society was founded in 1955. It was established by a group of like-minded individuals whose aim was to encourage awareness and appreciation of the history of the area. The Society carries out research into the history of Wolverton and the surrounding areas. It holds meetings on a variety of historical subjects, organises visits to places of historic interest, performs walks around the local towns and often helps to organise historic celebrations.
The Society also keeps an eye on listed buildings and scheduled monuments in the area and related planning applications.
A number of publications have been produced about the northern part of Milton Keynes. The Society also issues a Newsletter and pamphlets as well as publishing reprints of local history books and collections of postcards.
The Society has a large collection of over 12,000 slides of photographs taken since the 1860s which can be shown to local organisations.
