Milton Keynes is famous for its pedestrian and cycling routes known as ‘Redways’ and with over 200 miles of them stretching across Milton Keynes, they are a fantastic way of accessing our culture.  Pictured are cyclists enjoying Heritage Open Days in 2020.

With over 50 major cultural venues, 270 pieces of public art and over a thousand Listed buildings, ancient monuments, conservation areas and sites of special interest, it is no wonder that so many amazing cultural trails exist across Milton Keynes for people to investigate.

Tours

Milton Keynes has several events offering tours during the course of the year. The most popular are:

Cultural Trails

Milton Keynes has five different cultural routes to walk or cycle – blue, yellow, green, iron and cornflower. Each route explores the art, public art and heritage of different parts of Milton Keynes.

AHA-MK have also created a fun Discovering MK app trail for Milton Keynes' 50th birthday in 2017. Using the app you can hunt for 50 venues across Milton Keynes, play quizzes and unlock new information.

The Milton Keynes public health team is also working with the culture team to develop trails on a new and interactive Love Exploring app for Milton Keynes.

Heritage Trails

Living Archive MK brings many areas of Milton Keynes heritage to life through its MK Trails app. Explore our historic towns, new town areas and parks - with new trails being added all the time.

Many trails are created by the Milton Keynes Heritage Association (MKHA) member groups for their own pages and we would also recommend that you check the MKHA events page for walks and tours throughout the year.

Public Art Trails

You'll find a number of Public Art Trails across Milton Keynes and we've highlighted some of the most well-known here:
