The Supply and Acquisitions Service commissions private sector accommodation and helps private landlords secure short and long term tenancy agreements.

Because we recognise the important role landlords play in providing homes for local people we set up the Landlord Cash Incentive Scheme. The scheme provides a financial incentive to landlords while helping to offset the Council's reliance on temporary accommodation.

Landlords who join the scheme will receive up to £6,680 per property and a guaranteed rental income for a fixed tenure (6, 12, 24, 36 months).

We’ll also look at a ‘Rent Top Up’ between what each tenant can reasonably afford and the asking rent for the property. This is on a case-by-case basis and will need one of our officers to complete an Income and Expenditure with the proposed tenant to confirm affordability. They must meet our eligibility criteria. 

We will not pay an Incentive as well as a rent top up, but we will offer both options to landlords so they can choose which scheme they would like to benefit from that suits them best. We still offer Rent Guarantee on both schemes. 

We will also provide: 

  • Free inspection of each property to ensure it meets Housing Health and Safety Rating System Standards (HHSRS) and advice on how to bring it up to the right standard
  • Help to find the right tenants by completing suitability and affordability reviews
  • Support and advice to help resolve any issues such as rent arrears if they arise

The Supply and Acquisitions Service is fully trained in sourcing and giving advice on private sector properties and one of our key aims is to ensure that private landlords’ assets remain protected.
